Why Vote for this Guy?

Call me old fashioned, but I still want to believe that the office of the President of the United States of America is the political position of greatest honor in the world. Whatever man or woman holds that title should be someone my children can look up to and hold as an example and a hero.

I don't claim to be any sort of political scientist, but my vote counts just as much, and my own ideas and desires weigh just as heavily on my political decisions as any persuasive pundits'. So, on what do I base my vote? Sure, political party may have something to do with it, but more importantly, it's the person himself/herself and what they stand for.

I do believe the United States of America is the greatest country in the world. I do believe it was formed by not only some very wise and determined founders, but also by a whole heap of miracles. This country should never have been able to exist as a free, independent nation, yet here we are. And I want us to stay that way.

So, foremost, I want a leader who loves this nation. Someone who passionately believes in our greatness. Someone who, as the signers of the Declaration of Independence promised, are willing to pledge their "Lives, Fortunes, and sacred Honor" to our great country. We need a "Guard" for our "future security."

The world has plenty of people who are smart, but we need more people who are wise. There are those who are rich, but we need more righteous. Many are experienced, but we need experts. The world has plenty of people who are famous, but we need more people who are faithful.

I don't expect perfection, but a great track record of hard work, intelligence, success in business, politics, society, and family certainly goes a long way.

Mitt Romney has all this. He has proven himself a great political, social, business, and even spiritual leader.

  • As governor of MA, he turned a $3B deficit into a $1B surplus. He got 97% of people covered with health insurance, without raising taxes.
  • As the head of the Salt Lake Olympics, he turned a $300M deficit into a $100M surplus
  • In his decades in the private sector, and particularly as head of Bain Capital, he turned around hundreds of companies and created billions of dollars in value for his investors
But with all that, I believe Mitt will follow in the footsteps of our founding fathers and lead "with a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence." Whether you agree with the teachings of his church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, or not, you cannot argue with his faith in God. You cannot help but admire the countless hours he has volunteered to help others spiritually, both inside his church and out.

Mitt Romney is a good person with high moral character. He is a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Seriously, anyone who can raise five boys at least deserves a medal of Honor, but to have all their kids turn out to be good, moral people, too, speaks more about this man, and, of course, his wife, Ann, than any other accomplishment he has had.

I believe Mitt could stand with the likes of George Washington and Thomas Jefferson, with John Adams and Abraham Lincoln. But, more importantly, he is someone I would feel happy to have my own children look up to as an example and a hero.
